The Fourth Scientific Research Forum at the Applied College in Al-Majardah
The Fourth Scientific Research Forum, organized by the College of Applied Sciences in Al Majardah, achieved remarkable success. The forum attracted a select group of researchers, students, and specialists, and witnessed broad participation and outstanding turnout, reflecting the growing interest in scientific research and innovation.
This forum, which built on the successes of previous editions, represented a prominent scientific platform that effectively contributed to achieving the ambitious goals of Vision 2030 by promoting a culture of scientific research as a fundamental pillar of sustainable development and developing the capabilities and skills of students and researchers in various fields.
The forum witnessed significant interaction, with 188 participants presenting 65 diverse research projects covering four vital areas. These projects were subjected to careful and impartial judging by a committee of eleven specialized judges, confirming the high level of participation and enhancing their scientific value. The current edition of the forum featured a remarkable diversity of programs and accompanying events. Four rich workshops were held on diverse topics, in addition to a career guidance meeting that helped guide students toward their future paths. The forum also witnessed the launch of promising research platforms and projects, and the opening of a scientific research exhibition that showcased the latest innovations and research contributions.
At the conclusion of the forum, the winners were honored with appreciation awards. Five research projects in the school education category received valuable awards. Meanwhile, at King Khalid University, three research projects won in the sciences, three in the computer sciences, and two in the humanities, reflecting research excellence across various disciplines.
In the sciences, a research project on electrical circuits and systems of linear equations from the College of Applied Sciences in Al-Majardah won first place. Meanwhile, at the College of Applied Sciences in Muhayil Asir, a research paper on the effect of clove and sage extracts on bacteria that cause gingivitis won second place. A third-place research paper was also awarded in the field of green applications in the chemical industry.
In computer science, three research papers from different colleges of applied science won: the first, from the College of Applied Sciences in Muhayil Asir, was on personal finance habits using machine learning; the second, from the College of Applied Sciences in Al-Majardah, was on an innovative fashion design application using artificial intelligence technology; and the third, from the College of Applied Sciences in Rijal Almaa, was on "Liqiahom," a website for finding missing persons using machine learning. In the field of humanities, a research paper from the College of Applied Sciences in Muhayil Asir was on shading technology as an effective tool for improving pronunciation. Another paper from the College of Applied Sciences in Muhayil Asir was on Hijazi architecture and its parallels in teenage girls' fashion design to promote national identity. In addition, the forum witnessed a large turnout for the specialized training courses offered. 151 participants benefited from the "Artificial Intelligence: Present and Future" course, 142 beneficiaries attended the "Art of Decision-Making" course, 58 beneficiaries participated in the "CV Preparation" course, and 13 beneficiaries participated in the "The Role of Biofertilizers in Increasing Agricultural Production and Food Security" course.
In conclusion, the organizers expressed their thanks and appreciation to everyone who contributed to the success of this important scientific event, emphasizing their hope that this forum will be an effective strategic step that serves the local community and enhances King Khalid University's position as a major supporter of development in the region. Special thanks were also extended to the Al Majardah Municipality, the Al Majardah Social Development Association, and the Al Majardah Chamber of Commerce branch for their generous support and sponsorship of the forum.
