The Department of Mathematics was established alongside the College of Science and Arts in Al-Majardah, a recently founded educational institution within King Khalid University. The university opened its doors to female students during the first semester of the 1433–1434 AH academic year. At its inception, the college comprised three academic departments: Mathematics, Computer Science, and English Language; it is located in the Al-Majardah Governorate.
As the college evolved and underwent academic and organizational restructuring—transitioning into an applied sciences college—its departments and specializations were reorganized to align with its new nature and strategic direction. Consequently, the Department of Mathematics was transformed into the Unit of Health Specializations, Basic Sciences, and Their Applications. This unit contributes by delivering basic science courses and supporting academic programs related to applied disciplines.
The unit supports the educational process and fosters the development of students' scientific and practical skills. It promotes the application of basic sciences across various applied fields—aligning with the college’s strategic direction and labor market needs—thereby helping to prepare qualified professionals capable of utilizing their knowledge and skills to serve the community and contribute to development.
