Success Story

Praise be to God, Lord of the Worlds, who bestowed upon us the grace of knowledge and made it a way to guide and elevate the status of man in this world and a path to a paradise as wide as the heavens and the earth for the Almighty’s saying (God raises those who have believed among you and those who have been given knowledge by degrees).
Dreams come true with ambition, and with determination, obstacles are overcome; Where I recorded my success story, it was translated by a graduate student from the Department of English at the College of Education in Riyadh to the Dean of the College of Science and Arts in Majardah.
The chapters of the success story began when "Dr. Maha Al-Shehri" began her practical life while graduating from the university level and joining the academic work in the field of teaching English, then studying a master's degree in linguistics at Imam Muhammad bin Saud University in Riyadh, a story that proceeded towards achieving personal and academic goals From which it formed a scientific, administrative and academic model capable of taking over the reins of affairs in a large university such as King Khalid University now.
The idea of ambition came to me to kill two birds with one stone, to study and learn at the same time, so that I could then continue my university education and fulfill my dreams of obtaining higher degrees. But with ambition, dreams come true, and with determination, obstacles overcome, so I graduated with a high percentage in all levels.
I was honored to study abroad for a doctorate in the United Kingdom from the University of Southampton, and I obtained a doctorate degree in applied linguistics in 2018 after a long scientific journey that lasted for years, and then culminated in obtaining a scientific degree through which I was able to contribute to advancing the educational process in my country and to contribute to enhancing education outcomes at the university where I work.
I would like to say, “The PhD is a somewhat complex scientific stage, so I wanted to reduce the intensity of this stage by adding my passion for social responsibility towards improving English language education in my country. The processes of development in their self-identity and changes in their motivation to learn English.
Here, I always express my thanks and appreciation to the wise leadership and say: "I extend my sincere thanks to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Highness the Trustworthy Crown Prince - may God preserve them - for their support for science and scholarships in the countries of the world, and all that we hope from the Almighty is that we be at the level of the aspirations of the leadership, which It made our ambition skyrocket.
After my return to the Kingdom, I assigned his deputy for academic development and quality at the College of Arts and Sciences in Majardah at King Khalid University, and from here I had the opportunity to hold many academic positions at the university; Until the university president issued a decision to appoint me as the dean of the Faculty of Science and Arts in Majardah, and executive director of the Applied College branch in Majardah as a new female model characterized by leadership and vitality for the daughters of the nation.
During my tenure as dean of the college, the college was distinguished, praise be to God, at the academic and administrative level, which prompted the President of the University to renew my deanship for additional years. It has achieved academic successes in the college by upgrading the level of faculty members, developing them professionally, and choosing well-chosen educational courses, methods, and teaching techniques that enhance education outcomes. She was also keen to activate channels of communication between students and faculty members, and to overcome all obstacles that prevent the completion of the college's mission.
On the community side, I was behind many community initiatives aimed at linking the college with the community and contributing to activating the college's community role. Where the College of Science and Arts at King Khalid University in Al-Majardah Governorate continued its work within the Excellence in E-Learning initiative, by holding a number of courses and workshops, targeting college students and faculty members, in order to follow up on performance in the initiative, identify problems, and develop and apply appropriate solutions. . Since the launch of the initiative, the number of beneficiaries of faculty members and female students has reached 1,478, according to the plan set for the initiative.
It also supported, in cooperation with the youth committee in the governorate, the technical education initiative for community members, which benefited 5,200 male and female beneficiaries during the second semester of the academic year 1442 AH. The initiative was aimed at activating the role of the college in the field of serving the different groups and segments of society in the technical and electronic fields, and contributing to the provision of many training, technical and informational programs for different groups of society, including male and female teachers, workers in the government and private sectors, charitable, health and other sectors, in addition to implementing many programs. In the field of computers, improving the quality of electronic transactions, linking the college with the community through a technical developmental awareness project, and the contribution of college students to employing what they have learned in the community.
On the academic side, my interest in quality was vital, as the College of Arts and Sciences at King Khalid University in Majardah began applying QMQuality Matters standards to a number of courses in all departments of the college as a step aimed at developing educational mechanisms and measuring course outcomes to ensure the ability to develop educational content. In coordination with the competent authorities at the university through an initiative aimed at developing the mechanisms used in teaching integrated courses and drawing up an educational plan according to quality standards in order to determine the outputs and development proposals for the courses and ensure the ability to measure them and their logical link with the outputs of the programs and the college. A map of the initiative has been drawn up to ensure the achievement of its desired goals, starting with providing a number of training courses and practical supportive workshops on the mechanisms of applying QM standards for all faculty members in the college to ensure that the teaching staff is able to apply international quality standards to academic courses.
